Description
A hearty Southern-style dish combining tender cabbage, flavorful smoked turkey sausage, and seasoned ground beef for a comforting one-pan meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium head of green cabbage, cleaned and cut into large triangular pieces
- 1 lb smoked turkey sausage, sliced into rounds
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning (or to taste)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or cooking oil
Instructions
- Clean the cabbage thoroughly. Cut into triangular wedges, then slice each piece down the middle. Chop onions and peppers, and slice the turkey sausages into rounds.
- In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add the sausage slices and sauté until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Add ground beef to the same pan and season with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook until browned, then remove and drain excess grease.
- Add cabbage to the same pan, followed by onions and bell peppers. Sprinkle with additional seasoning and stir well.
- Cover and cook on medium-low for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally until tender.
- Add cooked beef and sausages back to the pan, stir together, and cook uncovered for 5 more minutes.
- Serve hot with cornbread or rice.
Notes
Adjust seasoning to taste and avoid overcooking the cabbage for the best texture.
